This development was written in response to the French and German proposal to the United Nations to ban human cloning. I focus on the utility of developing an international treaty banning this type of cloning. Despite the inherent shortcomings of a treaty of this nature, I conclude that one should nonetheless be created. The benefits of adopting a treaty include: (1) conducting a much-needed international discussion; and (2) regulating the use of cloning technology, and slowing down the diffusion of the technology.
